Hill Valley - 'A Nice Place To Live'

Sunday was a very exciting day for me as I got to travel back in time to 1955! I am of course talking about Secret Cinema Presents Back To The Future. While most attendees were running around trying to find their 50's outfit for the event, I was left staring into my wardrobe with too much to choose from. Here is what I decided on.

As I had been given the character of Barbara Toomber, a student at Hill Valley High School, and as there was going to be an 'Enchantment Under The Sea' school dance, I felt it only right to wear my prom dress. Yes, this is the dress I wore 8 years ago to my very own prom. I bought it (or rather my Nan bought me it) from a wee dress shop in Ballybofey, County Donegal, Ireland. We would always drive past the shop during our summer holidays and I'd always say that was where I was going to get my prom dress from when the time came. My orange cardigan is originally from Monsoon but I got it from a clothing swap. The orange cat eye glasses were a great find from Forever 21. The moment I spotted them instore was the moment I made up my mind to wear my green and orange gown. To complete my look I bought some green frilly socks from New Look to go with my white brogues from Matalan. Oh and who could forget my student satchel!!

Kev's outfit was slightly last minute, but with a quick run to Primark I think he looked fab!!

We had such an amazing evening and I'd even go as far as to say this may just be the best event in London I have been to this year...so far. The set was amazing, the actors were brilliant and the whole atmosphere was just delightful with plenty to see and do before the film screening. There are just 3 more sold-out nights left and I would highly recommend checking out the Facebook event page for people selling spare tickets.

As we were travelling back to 1955, phones and digital cameras were not permitted, so it was back to using old school disposables. It just made for even more authenticity. Here are a few of our shots from Hill Valley.

I was so sad to have to leave Hill Valley but am very much excited to see what Secret Cinema have planned for their next event!!

Thanks for reading :)

Emmy Awards 2014 Best Dressed

Morning folks!

I'm stuck in an airport for 3 hours, so what better time to present my favourite looks from last nights Emmy Awards!! There were a lot of fresh whites, vibrant reds and deep royal blue's to be seen last night. These are my personal favourites from the evening.

1. Natasha Lyonne

This Orange Is The New Black inmate scrubs up very well. The colour really compliments her hair and I love the flirty hemline.

2. Alicia Quarles

What really caught my eye with this dress is the checkerboard velvet detail on the skirt. It brings a great modern balance against the vintage lace.

3. Keltie Knight

Another lacey number, but check out the buttoned open back detail. This is both sophisticated and sassy!

4. Amanda Crew

This is incredibly elegant and Amanda has taken the attention away from the dress with over-the-top accessories. Her plain white nails and dark blue ring really complete this outfit.

5. Lena Dunham

I am always excited to see what Lena brings to these big red carpet events. I love that she takes risks and I'm really digging her new lighter do. She may not be conventional, but she's a hell of a lot of fun!

6. Mayim Bialik

This electric blue colour is absolutely gorgeous. I also adore the cut of this dress, very Grace Kelly.

7. Selenis Leyva

This frilly number is cute and classic. She reminds me very much of Dame Shirley with the short glam curls.

8. Julie Bowen

Such an eye catching print with a slight optical illusion; is she moving? Is she standing still? The deep V and halter neck detail gives it a 70's vibe.

9. Lena Headey

Lena was my Miss Rock Chick of the night in this black pinstriped number. I love the asymmetrical one shoulder and hemline. What's more, it shows off her punky tattoos perfectly!

10. Rose Leslie

Although Rose looks slightly washed out, this is still one of my favourite dresses from the night's event. The colour is beautiful and is styled wonderfully with the navy nails and dark lipstick.

11. Allison Williams

This has such a sixties feel with the big bow feature and the yellow sash adds just a dash of modernism; definitely something I would wear.

12. Michelle Dockery

Our very own Lady Mary brings some British glamour in this uniquely layered gown. Both the cut and colour combination are something quite different.

13. Cat Deeley

Another English rose in this enchanting faded dress which hangs beautifully from Cat's small frame. The colour suits her wonderfully.

14. Laverne Cox

Laverne looks like a Greek Goddess in this draped dress. A dazzling white garment to match that dazzling white smile.

15. Julia Roberts

My woman of the evening, and I think everyone else's too. Julia looks a dream in this bubbly layered dress. She styled it perfectly with matching shoes, and check out those legs!!

Men Of The Evening

1. Jim Parsons

Just for being the awesome man he is for having a photo with this ridiculous dog.

2. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

My Mr Grey, you know, if I had the choice...

Couple Of The Night - Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo

Just look how adorably rock and roll they look together!

So there you have, my favourites from last nights event. Please be reminded that these are just my personal picks, so you may not agree and that is fine. I'd love to hear who your favourites were!

Skylight

Evening!

So last month I was lucky enough to go and see Skylight, a play currently on the West End here in London. It features 2 of my favourite actors; Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy. Before I do my fangirling over them both, here's what I wore.

Navy Jacket // Rokit     Beatles Tee // Rokit     Jeans // Topshop     Boots // New Look

I'm wearing 2 vintage pieces, both from Rokit, which I bought from my vintage shopping weekend with Lee. The 1st is the Beatles tee. Yeah I know, I already have like 10, but this one is different, I've never seen this design before, so it's pretty rare. The second piece is that amazing navy jacket which is also from Rokit for a bargain price of £10! I don't think I've ever been in to Rokit and not bought something amazing.

Before my trip to the theatre, I met up with Luke for a spot of lunch and a wee walkabout, where we got caught in the rain.
The play was very intense and powerful with Carey and Bill portraying their characters brilliantly. I would highly recommend, but hurry as it's only on for another 2 days!!

Look who I managed to meet after the show!! I am literally so happy, I love them both and they were both so lovely, really taking their time with the fans.

Thanks for reading :) be sure to check out my eBay, I have plenty more pretty things I'll be adding!

Wishing you all a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend. I'm off to Secret Cinema on Sunday #EXCITABLES I still haven't fully decided what to wear. Unlike most people also going to this event, I actually have too many 50's style clothes to choose from!

I'll be back soon with some McBusted!!!
